Katy Perry: Sesame Street Walker?

Katy Perry performed a duet with the lovable Elmo that was set to air during Sesame Street's upcoming forty-first season. The duet is a parody of her hugely popular song, "Hot And Cold". The problem is, when the preview of the appearance was posted to You Tube, it caused some parents to complain about Perry's attire. The complaint was that Perry was dressed too sexy for a television show aimed and young children. (To be fair, I should point out that Katy is wearing a figure skater-like, flesh-colored mesh top, and is not exactly bare chested.) The outcry prompted Sesame Workshop to pull the video from the show.

Sesame Street is obviously going to do what they can to make sure they continue to produce quality children's television that parents can trust. In my opinion, pulling the video is not a slam at Katy, it is just unfortunate. All she wanted to do was get Elmo to play dress up with her. It's not like she wanted to tell him how much she liked kissing other girls. Too bad they don't re-shoot the video with Katy wearing something a little less revealing because frankly, the song is pretty darn catchy. Much better in my opinion than that horrendous Barney song that has been haunting me since my childhood.

Is Katy dressed inappropriately to be singing with a Muppet recognized by millions of children? You be the judge.

Be Blessed,
Kylee

UPDATE
SEPTEMBER 24, 2010:

Katy Perry seems to be making light of her video with Elmo being banned from Sesame Street. She posted the following on her Twitter account: “Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short! If you still wanna play see it at www.katyperry.com Tag you're it, Elmo!”

Elmo also seems to have no hard feelings toward Katy. Elmo said the following on ABC's Good Morning America: “Elmo loves Ms. Katy and we had a good time, so we’ll have another play date.”

It's good to see both sides are cool about all of this. Next time, Katy, give me a call before your play date. I have a smoking hot turtleneck you could borrow. ;-)

Gay Pride Through Green Eyes

I grew up in a very conservative home. Maybe you wouldn't know it by looking at me - I guess there's not a lot of Christian girls out there rocking nose piercings, tattoos and pink hair. For the longest time, I got so frustrated because people would judge me based on how I look rather than who I am. But I choose to look like this. I choose to live my life the way I see fit. This is where my dilemma gets interesting.

See, all my life I have been around people who told me being gay is a sin - a choice people made when they want to be hateful toward God's plan, and don't care about being damned to an eternity in hell. When that way of thinking is all you hear, you tend to start believing it. Children who grow up to be racists were not born that way. They were taught to be prejudiced by the people around them. I didn't realize that I had been so wrong in my views on gay people until just recently, when a friend of mine came out and told me he was gay.

At first I was shocked, and a little angry, then I was afraid for him. I was upset because he kept this secret from me, and afraid because I feared my friend was going to hell. I asked him a question that I would later realize was foolish. I asked, "Why would you choose to be gay?" He looked at me with tears about to fall and said something that would change my view on gays and lesbians forever. He said, "Why would I choose to be mocked and hated? Why would I choose to have fewer rights than a straight man who pays the same amount of taxes as I do? Why would I choose such a depressing and lonely existence, knowing that in the United States, I could never marry the person I love? Why would I choose this, knowing that so many people that I shared a hug, a laugh, and a cry with will turn their backs on me as if I do not exist? I did not choose this any more than you chose to have green eyes."

I am choked up right now as I relive this. I cried so hard for my friend, and maybe selfishly, I cried for myself because I had been so wrong. Regardless of what someone's religious beliefs are, these are human beings we are talking about. People with feelings, and hearts that can be broken just as easily as yours and mine can. I cried because I thought of all the people committing suicide because they felt like they had to bear this burden alone. They are our brothers, our sisters, our aunts and uncles, friends, and even our children. I wept uncontrollably because I was guilty of feeling prejudiced thoughts against people who were different from me - just because they wanted to love someone. How in the world is having love for someone wrong? Somehow, a lot of us have this whole thing backwards. We act like the good guys for hating someone who only wants to be free to love.

I choose to look the way I do, and for that I have to realize strange stares and rude whispers are par for the course. But I now know that gays and lesbians did not choose to have the feelings they do, and they do not deserve to be treated like second-rate human beings. Personally, I believe we are all God's children, and we are all beautiful and entitled to love whomever we want. Don't try to stop someone from loving someone else just because you disapprove of their lifestyle, just worry about your own life and happiness, and let them have theirs.

My fellow Gimme Your Hand Freak, Donnie Kendall, passed something along to me that he found on the internet. I would like to share it with you now. GHYE gives a very special thanks to Shelby Feeny (Touch The Rain) for allowing us to share the following thoughts and photo:

Photo and accompanying thoughts Copyright Shelby Feeny. Used with permission.

"Let's play what if for a second. What if Straights were considered the abnormal? The unacceptable?? The untouchable?? What if Straights were openly mocked and destined to hell if they revealed that they could be attracted to the opposite sex??
Think about that , the next time you find yourself in the company of someone who loves a gender you dont. Do you realize the STRENGTH it takes to openly tell your friends and family you love something other than the norm?Do you have any idea what its like to be told your going to rot in the fiery pits of hell torment for simply loving another human being?? For LOVING AT ALL??

Do you have feelings that make you uncomfortable? Ask yourself why. Can you tell a friend of the same sex behind closed doors that you love them, can you kiss them and hold them... and then in public feel a need to assume a distance from them?? WHY?? To please WHOM?? This is a betrayal of YOURSELVES. AND those whom you love. And the longer it takes for us to “come out”, the longer it is going to be until more people can admit that love is love. There is NO shame... none whatsoever. Be PROUD of who you are, and the choices that you make... do not judge those of another choice... ACCEPT freely ALL others.

My words and a brilliant womans words combined."

Kylee's Hottie Assessment

What makes a person attractive? Looks, personality, brains and hygiene are all things I factor in. (Not necessarily in that order, lol.) On a recent television show, I heard that Brad Pitt doesn't shower that often. Instead, he likes to freshen up using baby wipes. I have to tell you, that grossed me out a little, and maybe Mr. Pitt dropped down a few notches on the hottie chart in my head. I don't care how big your dimples are, or how much your muscles ripple, if you smell like a freshly dropped horse deuce, I'm bolting.

Confidence in one's self is also attractive to me, but not cockiness. Other girls fall for guys that seem to love themselves more than they could possibly love another. Respecting others is a trait that too many people lack in this society, in my opinion. If you want to wow this chick, let me see you carry an elderly person's groceries to their car, or lend a helping hand to a stranger in need. To me, that is more attractive than bragging about your abs or the size of your manhood. (Both of those examples are huge turn-offs, by the way. If you base your importance solely on the size of your winky, we are not going to be friends.)

Working at Gimme Your Hand Entertainment is a blast, but being the only girl on the team was a little troubling to me at first. I have to say though that all the guys here are pretty respectful of me, and kind of treat me like one of the boys. (With the exception of Mr. Blood. I do my best to steer clear of that guy!) Since the guys always seem to be talking about wrestling and mma, I have decided to watch that type of programming more often. I was glad I did, because that brings us to our first hottie!

Not only is he an athlete that looks good, he's also an entertainer. Anyone that brings a smile to the face of others is ok by me.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: HOTTIE!

A fun smirk and a nicely chiseled body is quite attractive, but this guy's sense of humor puts him over the top.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: HOTTIE!

While the guy in the photo may be attractive, leaving too little to the imagination is not. Being more conservative with one's "goods" is admirable.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: NOT HOT!

Healthy tanned bodies are nice, and expressing yourself through piercings and other forms of body art is commendable in my opinion. If these ladies were all natural, they would score more brownie points with me.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: HOTTIES!

Being comfortable enough in your own skin to show off your creative side can be loads of fun.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: HOTTIE!

Having an education to fall back on is a good idea. Outer beauty doesn't last forever.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: HOTTIE!

Under no circumstance is hate attractive. Trying to glamorize biased views against any race, religion or sexual orientation is just sickening.
KYLEE'S ASSESSMENT: NOT HOT!

Ricky Martin Is A Gay

Ricky Martin announced today that he is, in fact, a "fortunate homosexual man", and he is "blessed" to be who he is. Today's announcement may not come as a huge shock to some. Rumors of Martin's sexuality possibly leaning more toward that of a manly preference have been going around for years. At this very moment, however, you just know that there are countless female fans taking a collective gasp, yet countless more gay male fans shaking their Bon-bons.

Ricky Martin was once in the teen singing group Menudo, and now that he is 38 years old with two children (born via surrogate), apparently feels it's time to come clean and live his life openly. Trying to live a lie for so long, and making sure you always have a beautiful lady on your arm, as to not draw any more suspicion to your sexuality must have been very difficult. Part of not coming out sooner could be because Ricky was afraid the truth would hurt his career. The question you have to ask yourself is why. Maybe because there are so many people in this world who would rather judge you, or treat you unfairly if they think you are different from them. It's very sad that even in this day and age, intolerance, bigotry, and ignorance exists. We here at Gimme Your Hand Entertainment applaud you, Rick Martin, for proudly living out loud. What we all need to realize is it is OUR life, and we should never feel that we have to live it to appease anyone. Be yourself, be proud of who you are, and NEVER let anyone take that from you.

Be Blessed,
Kylee

That's Wylde: The Faces Behind Beloved Characters

I remember watching reruns of Alf as a child and wishing he had crashed into my family's garage instead of that of the Tanner family. I wanted to have a furry best friend to get into mischief with, and hug when I was feeling lonely. To me, Alf and Jim Henson's Muppets, and even the cartoon characters on Saturday mornings were real. As I got older, I found myself becoming curious about the behind the scenes aspect of these creatures. I wanted to know how they worked, what the people doing the voices looked like, etc. I've done a little digging, and came up with a few answers to those questions. (NOTE: The following pertains to the American versions of the characters depicted.)

ALF
From left to right: Mihaly 'Michu' Meszaros, Alf, and Paul Fusco posing with Alf.

Although the voice of Alf was supplied by his creator Paul Fusco, the man inside the Alf costume was Mihaly 'Michu' Meszaros. The 2 feet-8 inch tall actor donned the costume when the script called for a full body shot of Alf walking or running. Mihaly can also be seen in 'Big Top Pee-Wee', 'Waxwork', and 'Warlock: The Armageddon'.

ELMO
Kevin Clash with Elmo, and Baby Sinclair from T.V.'s 'Dinosaurs'.

Kevin Clash is a Muppeteer who has given life to the little red monster, Elmo, since 1984. And for those of you old enough to remember ABC's T.G.I.F. line-up from the 1990's, Kevin also performed Baby Sinclair from the series 'Dinosaurs'.

BARNEY
David Joyner and Barney.

"Barney is a dinosaur..." and according to my parents, too annoying for my little brother to watch. The man sweating inside the Barney costume from 1992-2001 was David Joyner. David also has had roles on 'General Hospital', 'The Young And The Restless', 'ER', and performed as 'Hip Hop Harry', another show designed for young audiences.

BART SIMPSON
Bart Simpson and Nancy Cartwright.

During the first season of The Simpsons, the show's producers apparently didn't want news of Bart Simpson being voiced by a woman to get out, or so the story goes. During the huge popularity of Simpson-Mania in the early 1990's, tabloids and other magazines started running cover stories proclaiming things such as, "Aye Carumba! Bart Simpson Is A Lady!" Yes, it's true. Bart is brought to life by the voice talents of Nancy Cartwright, who also provides the voices of Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum, and others on the show.

Tony The Tiger
Thurl Ravenscroft and Tony The Tiger.

Thurl Ravenscroft was a voice actor and singer who was also the voice of Kellogg's Tony The Tiger in over 500 commercials spanning over 50 years until his death in May of 2005. Not only did Thurl coin the legendary phrase, "They're Gre-e-e-at!" for Kellogg, he also sang the song, "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" in the Christmas television classic based on Dr. Seuss' 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas'.

Somewhere along the line, we all grow up and become a bit jaded. We lose that feeling of magic that we once embraced as children. Instead of just enjoying the charm of these characters, we break them down to figure out how they came to be. I thought that by doing some research into the people behind these iconic beings, it would somehow ruin the fun for me. Though my eyes have been opened to a new, technical side of these characters, I can honestly say that I appreciate them just the same. That is a credit to the men and women who bring ideas to life for the sole purpose of bringing joy and imagination to others around the world. A life without creativity would be a boring life indeed.

Be Blessed,
Kylee

Valentine's Day Memories

The staff here at Gimme Your Hand Entertainment was asked to share a Valentine's Day memory. Here's what they had to say:

Rex Delaney: Well, it's not my best Valentine's memory, but a few years ago I wanted to surprise a chick I was seeing named Kim by picking her up from work and taking her back to my place for dinner and a movie. I was stoked because I made the food myself, and I was even willing to sit through a chick flick for her. I could imagine her being so happy that I showed up with chocolates and flowers in front of all her coworkers, that she would finally put out. When I got to the store where Kim worked, I saw her standing there holding a huge bouquet of flowers and hugging some other guy. I was so pissed! I didn't even think, I just threw down the gifts I had for her, and stormed up to the guy with his paws on my girl and spun him around. I heard Kim scream, "Rex!" The random hero just smiled like the biggest asshole on the planet. I punched that mother fucker right in the face and dropped him instantly. As I was being hauled out of the store by a group of people, Kim was hunched over the guy, and screaming at me. As it turns out, random hero was actually Kim's cousin who was visiting from Ohio. Her BLIND cousin. After I found out, I felt like shit and no amount of apologizing could fix it. Obviously, the night was ruined. So I went back home, threw the romantic shit in the trash, ordered a real movie, and rubbed one out.

Kylee Wylde: Valentine's Day holds many cherished memories for me but one moment that really stands out took place last year. I was kind of bummed because my boyfriend said he was going to be out of town for Valentine's Day, and I really didn't want to spend it alone. I took my dog for a walk in the park for something to do. Coming home from the park, my cell phone rang. It was my boyfriend telling me he was stranded on the outskirts of town with a flat tire and no spare. He asked me to bring the emergency spare in my trunk to him so he could be on his way. I said sure and took off. He stayed on the phone with me and walked me through the directions like a human GPS. It was already getting dark, and I was a little freaked because I didn't know where I was going. I ended up following some back roads wondering why the heck he would be stranded out in the boonies, but his voice on the phone kept reassuring me I was almost there. I saw what looked like a fire in the distance, and as I got closer to it, I saw my man standing there with the cell phone to his ear, long stem roses in his hand, and a big goofy smile on his face. I got out of the car and realized he didn't have a flat tire at all. He had built a little romantic fire, and around it placed chocolates, rose petals, picnic food, and glasses filled with champagne. He wrapped a blanket around my shoulders and said "Happy Valentine's Day, babe."

Donnie Kendall: Valentine's Day is such a pain in the crack. Do you have any idea how many pairs of panties have been thrown at Donnie on Valentine's Day? Some of the people didn't even bother to take them off first! People all over the world send tons of flowers and gifts to Donnie's door hoping that Donnie will give them a second thought. Donnie has been given trips around the world, cars, toys, games, clothing, a boat, electronics, pets, movie props, bedroom props (as if Donnie needs any help there), maid services, cake of the month memberships, cheese logs, toe-socks, jewelry, a Filipino little person, Cds, DVDs, PSPs, a hat, autographed sports memorabilia, singing telegrams, strip-o-grams, and even a star named after him. And that was all just LAST YEAR! So do Donnie a favor, keep your lousy gifts to yourself, do not hit "send" on that naked pic of you with a ribbon wrapped around your what-nots addressed to Donnie@gimmeyourhand.com, and don't expect Donnie to show up at your place ready to sweep you off your feet. You just ain't worth it. Now, if you'll excuse Donnie, he has to go burp a dwarf.

Mr. Blood: I was asked a question at the last GYHE meeting. What is your favorite Valentine's Day memory? My favorite memory from Valentine's is the year I went out and gathered 12 female virgins and brought them back to my secret abode. Then proceeded to chain each one of them by the hands in shackles and cut their hearts out one by one. Making each and every one of them watch as I cut out the others heart, getting to hear my favorite sound over and over again. The sweet sound of screams. MMMMMMMMM. It makes my mouth water just thinking about that day.

Administrator's Note: We probably should have done some sort of background check before hiring the staff. Kylee Wylde obviously doesn't fit in here. Happy Valentine's Day!

Kylee's Hottie Assessment

Straight out of the box, I just have to respond to the comments being flung around by fellow Gimme Your Hand Freakz Rex and Donnie. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, boys. That's the awesome thing about this website! We can say or do whatever we want!

But I have to say Rex Delaney is a huge, over-sexed perv monkey. Your behavior after spilling your drink on my top the other day was unacceptable, but I forgive you. Actually, you're kind of cute in a helpless, unpotty-trained, little runt of a puppy kind of way. And expect my dry cleaning bill in the mail, Romeo!

Donnie Kendall,Forbidden Fantasy,gimmeyourhand.com,Gimme Your Hand Entertainment

As for you Donnie, I didn't really know too much background info about you, so I Googled you and discovered you're a huge star ....in your own mind. FYI: I still think the kitty magnets are cute, and I do not have male genitalia. However, my balls are still bigger than yours. Figure that out, "honey".

And now with hopes that the infighting is over, and we can tolerate each other like any other loving, dysfunctional family that was thrown together to bring life to a website in it's infancy, I will press on with my Hottie Assessment! This is where I show a picture of a possible "Hottie" and then evaluate them with a Pass or Fail on the basis of sheer Hotness! Is this shallow or degrading? Heck yeah! Let's begin!

Kind eyes? Check. Warm smile? Check. Hair that says, "I don't have to be perfect because I'm sittin' atop a hottie"? Check.
Kylee's Assessment: HOTTIE!

Hair, face and even eyebrows of perfection. And you can never go wrong with a little peek-a-boo belly!
Kylee's Assessment: HOTTIE!

Sleepy eyes, pouty lips, shirtless and full of innuendo.
Kylee's Assessment: HOTTIE!

And now, a little something for the guys...(or girls who like the girls!)

Sure, the beach shot may be a little cliché. But look at the flawless sun-kissed body, the seductive stare, and the hair that is just begging you to run your fingers through it.
Kylee's Assessment: HOTTIE!

Carefree smile, toned, athletic body and radiating beauty.
Kylee's Assessment: HOTTIE!

Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, races and backgrounds. Beauty is a state of mind, and emanates from within. We have to remember, what is considered outer beauty will fade with time. Those of us who have kindness, warmth and compassion instilled in our hearts will remain beautiful forever.

Be Blessed,
Kylee

That's Wylde: Kylee Recycles

Recycling is everywhere today, as is evident from the bottles we buy water and soda in, to the music we hear on the internet and radio (how many times has disco come back to haunt me in "new" hip-hop tracks?). The future of our planet depends on us being more responsible as far as waste is concerned, and recycling is a big part of it. But recycling doesn't just stop at newspapers, plastic bottles and hip-hop. You can have fun while saving the Earth as well! Check this out:

A company called Radiant Ideas recycles spoons into refrigerator magnets! How Cute is that?

Sandy Schimmel creates works of art using recycled junk mail and post cards. The premise is simple, turn unwanted mail into beautiful art. These works are going to set you back about $2000 - $4000 though. Ouch!

Heather Jansch creates astonishingly life-like animals such as these horses out of recycled driftwood and bronze! I want a couple of these for my backyard.

Ruth Waddy is modeling her creation, made out of recycled materials. This swanky get up is sure to turn some heads! Oops, don't look now Ruth, but your bubble wrap slip is showing!

Fashion designer China Hamilton answers the age-old question, what do you do when the elastic in your stockings wears out? The answer: hold those puppies up with twist ties! Yes, this outfit was made from items set to end up in a landfill. Very funky! I like it!

GaryHarvey, former Creative Director for Levi Strauss, designed this gown. Yay for recycling, but it's not exactly the ideal outfit for, say, attending a bonfire.

Sony has even jumped on the recycling band wagon with this new "green" laptop made with recycled CDs and plastic bottles. I suppose it's cool to go green, but did they have to do it so literally? Mad respect for recycling, but the green tint does nothing to turn this girl on. Give me some skull and cross bone, broken heart and spike designs mixed with some hot pink and black, then I might shell out the cash for your new gadget!

Recycling can be a great way to express your creative side. Just ask Dane Cook! That guy's been recycling jokes for years! (What, you think only Gimme Your Hand BOYS can take cheap shots? LOL)

Thanks for checking out my very first post on gimmeyourhand.com! I'm excited to be on board. Next time, I might have to step it up a little and be more risqué. I can't have Rex and Donnie outdoing me in the attitude department all the time. =)

Until next time, remember to help keep our planet beautiful!

Be Blessed,
Kylee
